 Sue:
Did you know that
over 25 million men in the United States between the ages of 40 and 55 are currently going
through male menopause?
That by the year 2020 the number of men in the United
States going through male menopause will grow to approximately 57.5 million?
These numbers are staggering; especially when you
consider than most men and women are not aware of even what male menopause us, much less
what it "looks like".
The vast majority of men and women do not recognize the
signs of male menopause. The signs can be subtle and "sneak up" on a
man. They also can be attributed or blamed on something else, like stress, a move,
the job etc. These warning signs of male menopause have their roots in real and measurable
physical changes. This is more than a "mid-life" crisis.
Some of the symptoms of male menopause are:
- Decreased sexual pleasure
- Increased fear and nervousness
- Weight Gain
- Sleep disturbances
Jed
Diamond the author of Male Menopause
heralds the trumpet to call attention to this very important time in every man's
life. Very much like the menopause women
experience, men have real physical and emotional changes at this time in
their lives. Lowering levels of testosterone not only decrease sex drives but can leave
men feeling powerless or "puny".
Male menopause is an unknown passage.
People are afraid to talk about it. Yet it will affect all men and produce direct
effects on all the people in their lives. This can be a life-changing event.
Jed Diamond is the director of the Third Age Wellness Center, which offers health services
for men and women over the age of forty. He is also a member of the International
Society for the Study of the Aging male, dedicated to improving the quality of life for
men throughout the world.
Diamond has been a successful licensed psychotherapist for thirty-four years and is a
nationally recognized educator and trainer in the area of men's health. In his book
Male Menopause he outlines what male menopause is, how it affects men both physically and
emotional, what can be done to help men feel better, and how women can support the man in
the their lives.
Male Menopause is an extraordinary book.
It is important for all men and women to learn about male menopause. This
book is the bible for explaining behaviors and situations which partners may have
conflicts with about. Male menopause is more than having problems with sexuality, it
affects the whole man.
This book can save relationships, restore a man's self esteem and work to empower men in
all areas of his life. Thank you Jed for such a terrific book : ).
