Traditionally heart attacks These symptoms in women tend to be attributed to other
ailments and are less likely than with men to be seen as a heart attack. A heart attack occurs when one of the major arteries that supply the heart with oxygen becomes blocked. Cholesterol deposits are the most common cause of the blockage. This blocking or lack of oxygen leads to heart damage. It is this lack of oxygen that causes the chest pain most commonly associated with a heart attack. Symptoms of a heart attack:

Medicine Conclusions. After myocardial infarction, younger women, but not older women, have higher rates of death during hospitalization than men of the same age. The younger the age of the patients, the higher the risk of death among women relative to men. Younger women with myocardial infarction represent a high-risk group deserving of special study.
